HOW OUR CONGREGATION’S OFFERINGS ARE USED (Revised June 2018)

 Part of our tithes and offerings is used to maintain this building and to assist visiting speakers.  Here is how the rest is used:

 

HOPE BAY BIBLE CAMP

Work: To encourage sincere relationships between children / youth and Jesus. An evangelical outreach to local and Provincial youth.

Affiliation: 'One Hope Canada',  Non-denominational Christian

Where: Local, but owned and operated by One Hope Canada (was The Canadian Sunday School Mission).

 MENNONITE BRETHREN MISSION ('MULTIPLY')

Work: Our church currently supports their Missionary training, though they are involved in other work, too.

Affiliation: Mennonite Brethren

Where: Office in Abbotsford.

MENNONITE CENTRAL COMMITTEE BC

Work: Relief and development agency (helping to prevent substance abuse, domestic violence,  help for the homeless in the Fraser Valley, refugee assistance, emergency help for people caught in overseas disasters, etc.)

Affiliation: Mennonite Brethren

OUR PLACE SOCIETY

Work: Relief to the poor of Victoria (food, accommodation, etc.)

Affiliation: United Church of Canada

MUSTARD SEED CHURCH

Work: Similar to Our Place, but involves more overt Christian outreach. They also run the largest food bank on Vancouver Island.

Affiliation: Baptist Union of Western Canada.

RBC MINISTRIES CANADA ('OUR DAILY BREAD')

Work: Distribution of Christian Bible-Study resources.  Most well-known is Our Daily Bread, which is now in 55 languages.  Members of our congregation use the material.

Affiliation: Non-denominational.

Where: Branch in Windsor, Ont.

THE SALVATION ARMY

Work: Provides social aid, often with the bare necessities of life.  Help for the homeless, those suffering from addictions, etc. 

Affiliation: They are their own church.

Where: Money goes to a central office in Toronto which distributes it to regional offices across Canada.  Each regional office submits a financial statement to the CRA.   We are told our donation is used in BC.

WYCLIFFE BIBLE TRANSLATORS OF CANADA, INC.

Work: Translates the Bible for the world's minority language groups.  In addition to the salvation of individuals, communities may be transformed by the resulting mother-tongue literacy and education.  Worldwide, active Scripture translation and/or linguistic development is underway in nearly  2,300 languages spanning approximately 130 countries. Specifically, from June 2017 we will be  supporting the Hood family in their promotional work for Wycliffe.
